Beloved Fromps,
Has anyone had great things come from their Computer Only Friends (FROMPS)?
For me, I always seem to need to meet face to face to take things to 'the next level'. However, using the internet I have stayed in touch w/friends across both time & space ... but I KNOW the people face to face.
W/ 100% internet friends, it seems much harder to have real intimacy & connection -- for me.
Anyone else have tales to tell?

Re: Fromps Tales -- Good/bad?
Thu, August 12, 2004 - 10:01 PMYup,
I have to agree. Fromps are connections until an interest progresses to make them friends in waiting...it can continue on-line for awhile but if it doesn't graduate to a mutual and most importantly verbally expressed desire to meet, it dwindles down to no communication and dies. If it goes to phone conversations and survives that and goes to an actual meeting, that's the true test. -

Re: Fromps Tales -- Good/bad?
Fri, August 13, 2004 - 7:27 PMWell I ended up with the true test (according to AL) We were online for 5 months till we finally decided to give each other our phone numbers. Then we talked a bit & played phone tag half the time. Ok - things went well till one day we decided to have lunch. We had a wonderful time. Then he went psycho on me & started making demands on my time. I wasn't ready. More psycho-ness on the phone too. I got scared & told him to "spit me out". So he sends me emails once a week & I give him a short response about where I'll be - & that's not with him though.
For me, fromping is a connection (right again, AL), very much like a relationship. Then it has to get to the next level if the interest is truly there. You either dies or goes to an actual meeting.
I was quite disappointed my 'fromping' worked out the way it did. I thought he was cool & cute too. And sometimes I am confused about what really happened there. But just glad we still keep in touch. Presently, I continue to make no promises.

Sat, August 14, 2004 - 11:20 AMif the person turns out to be a psycho, it could be the former. -

But have you met a net-head psycho?
Mon, August 16, 2004 - 11:01 AMI've never met any psycho's off the net, however.
I HAVE met a few weirdos and had a lot of quick 'net blind dates, or 'screenings' (15 min's max). Some people have found me to be the weirdo.
But I've also met a bunch of amazing people, including -- former roommates, RPG'ers, and a few women I've dated briefly (but no long term successes w/any net romances).
Tell your friends about the FROMPS tribe!

Re: But have you met a net-head psycho?
Mon, August 16, 2004 - 9:03 PMHe wasn't really that psycho - just too demanding of my time when I was not ready to give as much. We just weren't on the same page. But just like R.E. I have met some really neat peeps fromping. I dated 2 of them for a while - one was a doc & one a software engineer, & a bunch of other cool peeps too.
